The Van Winkle Special Reserve 12-Year, also known as “Lot B”, is part of the ultra-coveted Van Winkle bourbon lineup. Aged for 12 years and bottled at 90.4 proof (45.2% ABV), this wheated bourbon offers a smooth, rich, and well-balanced flavor profile that many bourbon lovers consider a softer, more approachable alternative to Pappy Van Winkle.
• Nose: Caramel, vanilla, toasted oak, dried fruit, and a hint of cinnamon
• Palate: Buttery smooth with notes of honey, brown sugar, nutmeg, and soft oak
• Finish: Medium to long, with lingering sweetness and subtle spice
With its 12 years of aging, this bourbon has more oak character than younger wheated bourbons but remains smooth and refined, making it a great in-between option between W.L. Weller 12-Year and Pappy Van Winkle 15-Year.
Best Way to Drink It:
• Neat: To fully appreciate its smooth and rich profile.
• With a Few Drops of Water: Opens up the sweetness and softens the oak.
• On the Rocks: If you prefer a slightly chilled sip.

One of the best Bourbons I’ve had. I have quite a bit of different Bourbons trying various brands but I love the Buffalo Trace selections including: Weller, Blanton’s, Col.Taylor.
